About Dr. Sarah Tisser
Sarah Tisser, DNP, PMHNP-BC (she/her) is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health
Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing thoughtful, personalized mental health care for adults.
Born and raised in France and having lived in Israel for ten years, Sarah brings a multicultural
perspective to her work and values creating a therapeutic space where patients feel deeply heard,
understood, and respected.
Sarah specializes in women’s mental health and trauma-focused care. She works with individuals
experiencing anxiety, depression, postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, OCD, trauma, and
complex emotional challenges. Her clinical approach is grounded in trauma-informed and
psychedelic-informed care to help patients move beyond simply managing symptoms and toward
deeper healing, resilience, and personal growth.
As an integrative provider, Sarah collaborates closely with her patients to create individualized
treatment plans that may combine psychiatric medication management with psychotherapy-
informed approaches, mindfulness practices, lifestyle interventions, nutrition, and other
evidence-based strategies.
Sarah has advanced training in Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy and Ketamine-Assisted EMDR
Therapy through the Ketamine-Assisted EMDR Therapy Institute. Her work integrates ketamine-
assisted treatment with trauma-informed psychotherapy, including careful preparation and
integration, to support individuals struggling with treatment-resistant depression, trauma, and
longstanding emotional patterns.
Before becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner, Sarah worked as a laboratory scientist
specializing in substance abuse research and later served as a clinical instructor in psychiatry at
DePaul University. She also worked for a long-term psychiatric facility and a psychiatric
hospital. Her diverse background informs her holistic and thoughtful approach to patient care.
Sarah earned her Bachelor’s degree in Medical Sciences from Hadassah College in Jerusalem,
Israel, her Master’s degree from DePaul University in Chicago, and her Post-Master’s
certification in Psychiatric Mental Health from the University of Cincinnati. She later completed
her Doctor of Nursing Practice, where her doctoral work explored the impact of mindfulness
meditation on anxiety.
Outside of her clinical work, Sarah enjoys spending time with her two children, traveling,
learning new languages, playing guitar, reading, and staying active.
“I believe healing happens when patients feel safe, understood, and empowered. My
goal is to create a collaborative space where we can explore both the biological and
emotional roots of suffering and work toward meaningful and lasting change.”
